Curated members. Invite-only events.
A human matchmaker, if you want it.
Free to apply.
Every application is reviewed.
Yenta opens a window in your city. You tell us when you're free, and if there's a group we think you'll actually vibe with, you get an invite with the plan.
Looking for a roommate? A job lead? A fourth for tennis? Post it. Yenta keeps it curated, not another spammy WhatsApp group.
SHMZ events move around the globe all year. Members only, unique experiences, and actual connection.
A few SHMZ event stubs from around the world. Stay tuned for more.
We're a married couple who met on a dating app. We're glad it worked. We just didn't love the ride: the swiping, the pressure, and how everything built for meeting people somehow turns into a singles event the second you're not single.
We wanted to meet our people, globally. Between relocating internationally and watching our single friends burn out from dating apps, we decided to build something different.
A social club, with a side of optional matchmaking if you're single.
It's just the two of us. No funding, no team. We read every application, and we're selective. It's all about the curation.
A chosen family, wherever you are.
Welcome to the club.
Nope. SHMZ is a private social club.
There are Invites, events, the members board and a global community of people worth knowing. Plenty of our members are happily coupled up.
If you're single and want to meet other curated members, matchmaking is there for you. If you don't, you'll never know it exists.
We know Jew-ish can mean a lot of different things to different people. That's very much the point.
Our community includes people from all kinds of Jewish backgrounds and levels of observance.
People we think our members would genuinely want in the room.
Every application is read by humans. We look at the whole person, not just whether you filled in the boxes correctly.
We're selective because the curation is what makes SHMZ feel like SHMZ.
A small, curated get-together with other members in the same city.
Every couple of weeks Yenta opens a window. Tell us which days you're free, and if there's a group we think you'll click with, an Invite lands with the plan and the people. You just have to claim a seat, optional to bring a plus-one for comfort.
Not every window has a seat for everyone. When you do get an Invite, you'll see where you're going and who else is coming once you've locked your seat in.
We handle the group chat mathematics. You just turn up.
Basically the club bulletin board.
Looking for a roommate? A job lead? Someone to play tennis with? A recommendation? Post it.
Every post is read by Yenta, and it only goes up if it's approved. That's what keeps the board feeling curated instead of like endless self promo in a WhatsApp group.
Members reply privately to each other's posts.
If you register with matchmaking, it'll show for you automatically. If you don't, you'll have to create your matchmaking account in your profile settings.
Once you do, Yenta gets to know what you're looking for and pitches you one person at a time. No swiping, no public dating profile, no catalogue of humans. Schmoozers and Chief Schmoozers are prioritized.
Your answers are blind. If you both say yes, you're put into a private chat and can set up a date.
Need a break? Pause whenever you want.
Find your person? You can delete your dating account in your profile settings and stay in SHMZ for everything else.
You can be in SHMZ for free and use things à la carte as you go.
If you start using the club regularly, one of the memberships will probably make more sense. We have two paid tiers, and both cover the community side of SHMZ as well as matchmaking for those who are single.
Schmoozer: free Board posts and Invites, plus higher matchmaking priority if you're dating.
Chief Schmoozer: free Board posts and Invites, a ticket to all SHMZ club events, plus our highest matchmaking priority and a more concierge Yenta experience with direct access to her.
In very simple terms: use SHMZ occasionally, stay free. Become a regular, do the math.
Everywhere.
Our biggest communities are currently Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, London, Tel Aviv, Sydney and Melbourne, with members popping up in plenty of other places too.
If your city isn't listed, add it yourself. You might be the beginning of something.
There's no public member feed and nobody is sitting around browsing profiles.
Your profile appears when there's an actual reason for someone to see it, like when Yenta pitches a match, your Invite group is confirmed, or you connect through the Board.
